It was a great experience to tour the stadium where some of the epic Champions League knockout matches took place. The stadium is also one of the largest in the world. However, the stadium is currently under construction, so I wasn't able to take the stadium tour. Hopefully, I'll be able to visit the stadium again when completed.

7. Montserrat (Sacred Mountain)

Price : 25 euros

Don't miss out on a trip to Montserrat while in Barcelona, which is easily accessible by train from Plaça de Espanya in the city center. There are two options to get to the monastery: you can take the Cable Car or the Rack Railway (funicular) to go up the monastery. I chose the Cable Car, and the combined return ticket for the train and cable cost 25 euros.

There are plenty of activities to do at the monastery, including visiting the museum, Montserrat Atrium the Basilica (home to the Black Madonna), and taking another funicular up to the top of the mountain, which cost 16.5 euros for a return ticket.

My visit to Montserrat was an amazing experience, and it turned out to be the highlight of my holiday in Barcelona. We spent nearly 2 hours hiking at the top of the mountain before descending back to the base.

It is one of the larget gardens in Spain, and it is famous for being one of architect Antoni Gaudí's greatest creations. I spent a day at this park exploring the colorful mosaics and nature-inspired architecture.

Tips (Visit in the summer)

  1. Bring a water bottle as Spain can be very hot, especially if you're coming from cooler places like the UK.
  2. Consider using a fanny pack or crossbody bag to prevent pickpocketing. Barcelona is known as the pickpocket capital of Europe.
  3. Purchase tickets at least 4 days in advance for popular attractions like La Sagrada Familia, as they tend to sell out quickly.
  4. Consider getting a T-mobilitat card for convenient and affordable transportation during your stay.
